Diary of a House Seller: Week Four

Charlotte020514 Decision Time

Another week, another batch of offers! We’ve gone above the asking price now, which we certainly didn’t expect to happen so quickly when we first put our house up for sale. It’s great that all of the hard work that we have put into renovating and decorating the property has paid off and feedback that we have had from viewings is great.

We were actually away for a few days last week so we’ve not had much time for any further viewings but Houses.co.uk have been keeping us up to speed with all of the developments. We’ve got a few offers to think about so hopefully we’ll accept one soon and then we can start wrapping things up. Our estate agent has helped us to consider the merits of each offer – you need to take more than the price offered into account – things like the strength of the buying chain do make a difference.

We’re initially moving in with my partner’s parents once we move out of our current place, but we’re already on the lookout for a new home. Because we will have hopefully sold our house, we should be in a strong position when we find our next property and can move quickly if we need to. I think the experience of selling this house has taught us a lot about the current market and given us some good experience that we can use when we’re negotiating an offer on our next property. It’s certainly easier selling than buying at the moment!

That’s all for now, we’ve got some thinking to do…
